East Lincoln Fire Department Uses Technology to Better Communicate with Citizens
Stanley, NC – The East Lincoln Fire Department has added an “E-Newsletter” feature to the department’s website located at www.elfd.org.
Citizens and other interested parties can now receive timely information via a new monthly e-newsletter that will be sent to the individual’s email address.
There is no cost involved to sign up for the feature and the new addition is part of the department’s overall local marketing strategy to bring safety information to the general public.
Jason Saine, ELFD’s Public Information Officer, said that the department will also use the newsletter as a way to promote understanding of the day-to-day operations at the fire department. “This E-Newsletter will serve the community in a number of ways. First and foremost we hope that this information will help save lives and promote a safer better informed community. Plus, this will help cut through some of the misinformation that often times is spread through less-than-credible sources about departmental budgets, training and other issues. We believe that transparency in a public organization is the best public policy.”

Stanley, NC - The East Lincoln Fire Department was featured on Fox News Charlotte’s local newscast on Wednesday evening on Fox News at 10. ELFD is observing a national “Stand Down” this month in observance of firefighter safety.
The East Lincoln Fire Department is joining thousands of fire departments across the United States and Canada for the 2006 International Fire Fighter Safety Stand Down. Starting June 21, and continuing until all members of the department have participated, our fire fighters will suspend all non-emergency activity to focus on fire fighter safety.
The department will respond to all emergency calls as normal, but between calls, fire fighters, officers and chiefs will take the time to conduct safety training and drills; review our safety-related standard operating procedures; discuss accident reports and have an open conversation about fire fighter safety in the department. The regularly scheduled training meeting on June 26th will focus on firefighter safety while running routine calls.
The focus of the Stand Down is on emergency vehicle safety—in particular, on seatbelt use and safe driving through intersections.
